CI PD90 – Phosphate Boiler Treatment for Scale Prevention
Steam Boilers and Feedwater Systems | Prevents Calcium and Magnesium Scale Before It Forms | Phosphate Sequestrant That Keeps Hardness Ions in Solution and Off Tube Walls
CI PD90 is the scale prevention treatment for steam boilers and feedwater lines where calcium and magnesium hardness in the water would otherwise precipitate onto hot metal surfaces as mineral scale — the insulating layer that reduces heat transfer, increases fuel consumption, and eventually leads to tube overheating and failure. Active phosphate compounds sequester hardness ions and keep them in solution so they leave the system through blowdown instead of baking onto tube walls. This is a different job from what the corrosion inhibitors in the line do. SP50 and OS100 remove oxygen. No. 20, No. 25, No. 34, and No. 38 protect metal surfaces through passivation films. PD90 prevents the scale that forms when hard water meets high heat — and if scale isn’t controlled, the corrosion inhibitors underneath it can’t do their job either, because the film is buried under mineral deposits that block both chemistry and heat transfer. Most effective when paired with an alkaline boiler treatment, which enhances the phosphate’s scale control while building a protective phosphate film on internal surfaces that adds a corrosion resistance layer in systems with high heat loads or variable water quality. Used routinely, it reduces the frequency of acid cleaning and mechanical descaling — the expensive, disruptive interventions that happen when scale prevention isn’t part of the program. One product, one job: keep hardness off the metal and keep the boiler transferring heat the way it was designed to.
Technical Data
CI PD90
Phosphate sequestrant treatment for steam boilers and feedwater systems where calcium and magnesium hardness would otherwise precipitate onto hot metal surfaces as mineral scale. Built to keep hardness in solution, send it out through blowdown, and stop scale from insulating tubes before heat transfer and fuel economy start falling apart.
