B-10 Biocide

Bronopol shock biocide for cooling towers, closed loops, and process water systems.

Fast-acting broad-spectrum microbiocide built on 10% bronopol (PCP #21153.18). Non-ionic, non-foaming, odorless, and effective across varying pH conditions — a useful fit in open cooling towers, closed heating and cooling loops, and humidification spray pans where biological growth has to be controlled without adding foam or odor. Applied as a shock-feed biocide at 1 gallon per 1000 gallons of system volume, typically twice weekly, to suppress bacterial growth, reduce slime formation, and limit the heat-transfer loss and underdeposit corrosion pressure that follow biological fouling. Registered applications also extend beyond HVAC into crude oil and fuel storage tanks, produced water systems, water disposal wells, and fire water storage. Does not control scale or corrosion on its own; it is the biocide side of the program and is used alongside a cooling water compound, not instead of one.

Operational Notes
• This is the biocide side of the program — it controls bacteria and slime, but it does not replace a cooling water compound for scale and corrosion control
• Strong fit where foam and odor are operational problems, especially in open towers and occupied-building humidification systems
• The practical selling point is fast bacterial knockdown with a simple repeatable shock-feed routine
• Slime control matters because biological fouling quietly drives heat-transfer loss and can increase corrosion pressure beneath deposits
• Broad compatibility with water treatment chemistry is part of the product’s value in mixed treatment programs
• Registered use extends well beyond HVAC, which gives the product wider utility in industrial and process water accounts

Practical Fit
CI B-10 Biocide is the fast-acting bronopol shock biocide for systems where bacterial growth has to be knocked down cleanly without adding foam, odor, or incompatible chemistry to the water treatment program. It belongs alongside the cooling water treatment compound, not in place of it.
