Potassium Permanganate (KMnO₄)

CI Permanganate – CAIROX® is a strong inorganic oxidant used for pretreatment oxidation in drinking water and wastewater systems. The product is effective for oxidizing iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, and taste-and-odour compounds, and for controlling certain algae-related byproducts. Reaction products form manganese dioxide solids that are subsequently removed by clarification or filtration. The characteristic purple color provides a visible indicator of overdosing. The product is not intended for primary disinfection.
